We have had a kick-off meeting in the
CoRoT Week 7.
The proposed agenda was:
Evolution and Seismic Tools Activity
Team Kick-off Meeting
Wednesday, 15th December 2004
Granada - Spain
A meeting will take place during the
CoRoT Week 7
in order to setup two key
components of the models and frequencies comparison activity.
All colleagues involved in the calculation of stellar models and
their frequencies of oscillations are welcome to attend the meeting and
urged to participate in these efforts.
For further information or suggestions please contact
Mario Monteiro.
Programme:
The
tasks to be discussed and planned are:
- To produce and make available a grid of reference models: the
definition of the physical parameters of the models and the format of
the model and frequency files will be defined.
- To initiate the models and frequencies comparison between
different codes: the key objectives, the strategy to follow and the
calendar will be defined. There is an urgent need to integrate the
different activities already taking place by setting common objectives
and by extending the exercises to a broader community.
Results:
You may have a look at the slides used to guide the discussion at the MiniWorkshop.
The outcome of the discussion was to setup the following tasks:
- To produce reference grids of models, calculated with up-to-date physics, and their frequencies of oscillation. More than one code will be used to do this.
Calendar: grids to be made available in the beginning of 2005.
- To setup a few stellar models in order to coordinate the comparison on the implementation of the physics between different model builders. Representative cases (in stellar mass and age) will be identified and used to start the comparison on how the physics is implemented in the codes, and on some of the numerical aspects of the calculation.
Calendar: starting January 2005.
- To setup a few stellar cases (hare-and-hounds type) so that it may be possible to compare the models/description proposed by each participant to reproduce a set of "global" constraints. The goal is to quantify the range of uncertainty that our codes (and prejudices) give in order to reproduce the observations.
Calendar: starting January 2005.
The goal is to have the grids available as soon as possible, and a few results of the comparisons available for discussion in the next CoRoT Week (the 8th - Toulouse, May 2005).
