Stars form in the darkest, coldest and densest parts of the galaxy called molecular clouds. Understanding the formation of Sun-like stars is closely related to the questions of planet formation and origin of life, which the human-kind has investigated since ages. In this talk, I will review our current knowledge of the formation of stars from cold molecular gas in space.
