Constraining the variation of fundamental constants with the CMB

Silvia Galli

Abstract
The high precision of current and future CMB data may allow the detection of numerous physical processes that might change the standard model of recombination, leaving recognizable imprints on the angular power spectra. In particular, changes in the value of the fundamental constants, such as the fine structure constant and the gravitational constant, might be detectable in upcoming data. Testing the possible variations of these constants with the CMB is important because it allows to test the validity of known physical laws at space-time scales that are clearly inaccessible with laboratory experiments. In this talk, I will present some recent constraints obtained on the variation of these constants using CMB data.
