![]() ![]() Researcher Phone Email Biographic notes Margarida Cunha graduated in Physics/Applied Mathematics at Porto University in 1994. In 1995 was awarded the PartIII of Mathematics by the University of Cambridge and in 1999 finished her doctorate at the Institute of Astronomy of the same University. M.S. Cunha's work is focused on the development of seismic diagnostic tools for inference on stellar interiors, as well as on the interpretation of the coupling between stellar oscillations and magnetic fields. In both cases, the main aim is to probe aspects of the physics and dynamics of stars that are still not fully understood, such as to improve the way these are tackled when modeling stars, e.g., with recourse to stellar evolution codes. Currently, M.S. Cunha's research interests are focused on: 1) The inference of stellar ages, activity and chemistry, particularly for solar-like pulsators during their main sequence evolution; 2) The inference on the structure of post-main sequence stars; 3) The characterization of planet-host stars.
