Radio Astronomy Mercedes E. Filho This is intended as a 4 hour course on the basics of radio interferometry and its applications in astronomy. The course will begin with an overview of radiative transfer and the physical mechanisms that produce radio emission. The theory behind interferometry will then follow, with particular emphasis on synthesis arrays. The course will proceed with basics on data reduction of radio observations, including calibration and imaging. An overview of some of the most advanced radio telescopes will also be given. Finally, the application of radio interferometric techniques to astronomy will be presented, as applied from cosmological to planetary scales.
