Abstract
With more than 1700 confirmed exoplanets the hunt for an Earth twin is starting. The Earth's twin has about the same size as the Earth but it also has to be in the habitable zone, where the temperature allows liquid water to exist. In this hunt, precise characterization of the host star is extremely important in order to proper characterize the exoplanet. M dwarfs is ideal candidates for hosting an Earth twin, but characterization is extremely difficult for these stars.
In this talk I will present the basic ideas on how to characterize a star with spectroscopic data by measuring the equivalent width of FeI and FeII lines. I use the Sun as a model to create line lists in the near-IR. The composed line list will later be used for M dwarfs and other FGK stars as it has similar been done for the visual part of the spectrum before.
