Europe gets better acquainted with the stars in search of New Worlds What science is developed behind these walls? Who are the men and women that work in this institute? How do they work? These are just some of the many questions we ask when we pass by a Research Unit or Science Institute. So that theses questions get answered the European Commission has launched a challenge to all European Research Institutes - Researchers Night 2006. The specific objectives of the this initiative is to give the public, and in particular the young people, the opportunity to meet researchers in occasion of festive, "out of the ordinary" activities. Many cities across the 25 Member States are planning to host activities on European Researchers' Night, which will take place on Friday, 22 September 2006. At the Center for Astrophysics of the University of Porto (CAUP) you will have the opportunity to get to know the CoRoT space telescope. CoRoT has two major scientific objectives: search for estrasolar planets and the study and stellar seismology. The mission launch is schedule for October 2006.
