FCT call for postdoc positions

FCT has opened the 2010 call for applications for postdoc individual grants (first deadline 14 June 17h00, second deadline 6 September 17h00). These are individual grants for three years, with the possibility of being renewed for further three years.

CAUP will support applications that are broadly relevant for the following research topics:

• Origin and Evolution of Stars and Planets (Star Formation and Early Evolution, Planetary Systems, Stellar Populations and Evolution of Stars);
• Galaxies and Evolution of the Universe (Physical Properties of Galaxies and Clusters, Observational Probes of Dark Energy);
• Scientific and Technical Development of Astronomical Instrumentation.

Applications from researchers able to complement the expertise of the existing scientific teams and capable of adding value to the participation in major international projects are given preference. In particular, postdoc research programs that potentiate the Portuguese participation in ESO and ESA will be considered favorably.

The calendar, for the June deadline, is the following:

• 7 June: submission to CAUP of a CV, together with a brief statement of research interests
• 8 June: pre-selected candidates will be contacted in order to proceed with the detailed preparation of the application, under the supervision of a senior researcher at CAUP
• up to 14 June: the full application is reviewed by the supervisor at CAUP and submitted to FCT

• 21 July: submission to CAUP of a CV, together with a brief statement of research interests
• 23 July: pre-selected candidates will be contacted in order to proceed with the detailed preparation of the application, under the supervision of a senior researcher at CAUP
• up to 6 September: the full application is reviewed by the supervisor at CAUP and submitted to FCT
