The ANTARES neutrino telescope: status and results The ANTARES detector is the largest underwater neutrino telescope. It is located at 2.5 km under the Mediterranean sea level, in front of the Southern French coast. The main goal of the experiment is the search for high-energy neutrinos from astrophysical sources. The apparatus is optimized for the detection of muon neutrinos at energies above 1 TeV. The status of the experiment will be presented, including a broad target-of-opportunity program. The ongoing physics studies will be reviewed. In particular the results of a search for point-like sources and for diffuse flux of VHE neutrinos will be discussed. |
