Rees-Sciama effect and impact of foreground structures on galaxy redshifts Using toy models of super structures and the LTB metric solution, we find that both superclusters and supervoids can decrease the temperature of the CMB by several micro Kelvin in the central region due to the RS effect. This is significant compared to the linear integrated Sachs-Wolfe (ISW) effect, and, hence, may need to be taken into account when interpreting the ISW data. We also find that super structures can induce changes to galaxy redshifts at the percent level of large-scale rms bulk velocities. This effect can be a source of systematic error in precision measurements of the redshift-space galaxy correlations for dark energy studies. |
