CAUP Location
A map of the local area of CAUP, in Porto, can be found here.
To travel between Porto airport and CAUP you have 2 options:
1- One option is to use the Metro. Metro's airport station is located just in front of the arrivals zone. The metro station nearest the CAUP is "Casa da Música", which is on the same line (violet line) as the airport. The journey time is 25 minutes, and there is a train every 20 minutes, from 6am to 1am. It costs around 2 EUR.
You can take a taxi from the station "Casa da Música" to CAUP or you can walk (around 10 min), please see the journey here.
2- Another option is to take a taxi directly from the airport to CAUP. This is more expensive (25-30 EUR) and depending on the time of the day may in fact be slower than the Metro. Please tell the driver to go to the "Planetário do Porto" which is located in the same building as CAUP.

Metro - pratical information
Note that the Metro works on an open system (no barriers that will open only upon presentation of a ticket) but controls are frequent. You need to be in possession of a validated ticket (tickets are validated before entering the train), otherwise you may be fined.
Metro tickets can be bought in machines accepting EUR coins and bills. With this system you get a magnetic card (ANDANTE) that you can charge with more trips later on (so, don't throw it away). For trips from the airport to the city you need to press zone Z4. This card is individual: two persons cannot use the same card.
You can have a look at the metro web page at
http://www.metrodoporto.pt for further information.
Internet The workshop venue will have internet access.
Power plugs in PortugalWe use "SHUKO" power plugs. In practice these are the "same" as in Spain and Germany but are different from the French, US, UK and Italian ones. You can find some pictures of plugs at
Powercords Online. You need to bring your own adapter/converter.
